Sid's Place is the novel that Coyote wrote in the mid seventies, finished in 1980, edited into a professional draft 1984, and published 2008.
Why so long to publish this book?
Because it is full of drugs, and the hero is a drug dealer. No book publisher would risk the wrath of the Reagan Administration in the eighties. We have saved some of those rejection letters for our amusement. Bantam Books got interested--but got scared.
This is the story of L.S.D., marijuana, amphetamines, revolutionaries, hippies, groupies, rock bands, sex, and some more sex, and some more drugs, and living underground. Tom is chased by the F.B.I. and other branches of the government, and a Vietnam Vet hitman named, Sid.
Now, armed with Quark, Photoshop, and a scanner, we've been able to publish this book, this novel, Sid's Place. Shaolin Communications was launched in 1984 with our record company, Shaolin Records, and our music publishing company, Shaolin Music. This is our first novel published by Shaolin Communications.
I am proud to release this book and hope the Feds won't get pissed off...
See where The Coyote leads us as he bends reality into this wild adventurous novel that starts in 1969 during a drug deal that goes very wrong. Coyote claims that he made this up (we told him to say that) so he won't get into trouble for portraying what life was really like before the Hippies were herded by Governor Reagan into targets for the Viet Cong.
